The Jeff Rock 2008 Year In Review
As 2008 comes to a close, I want to wrap up the year with a recap. It was a good year so it’s a little sad to see it go. I know this will be a bit of a dashboard clogger for some of you but I wanted to write this all down somewhere for posterity. Because it’s exceptionally long I’ll break it up into parts so that they’re easier to absorb...
Looking forward
So 2008 was great. If there’s anything that this year taught me it’s that you can do amazing things if you focus your time effectively.
What about 2009? Well, hopefully we’ll get more acquainted with Richmond and get the house painted. Mobelux will finally come into it’s own (we’ve got some great stuff in the pipeline and a big announcement to...

I think I found my desk. It’s definitely over budget, but it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Bonus: everything MUJI makes is stunningly simple and elegant.
Overheard in Ukrops
Kid: Mom, I want a monkey.
Mom: Why would you want a monkey when you have a little brother?
Kid: ... A monkey would be way better than Joey.
Bye Laptop, Hello Tumblrette
stevienyc:
Laptop is being packed away now for safe keeping.
Everything here on out will probably be via Tumblrette, via iPhone.
VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS !!!
For all the free publicity I should probably give Stevie a preview copy of 1.3 :)

Techcrunch in regards to Robert Scoble:
I spoke to Robert for a few minutes at the Le Web conference a couple of weeks ago. I said “You sure do like Twitter and Friendfeed.” His response - “Yeah, but I wonder if that was such a smart investment of my time.”
…
I asked Robert how much time he actually spends on those services. He monitors them all day, he said, hitting refresh...

Lead Compressor
stevienyc:
So at work they made me “Lead Compressor”.
Which means they use my computer to compress files that take 6 - 10 hours at a time. And I can’t do other work while it’s running.
So basically. I get to sit here. And watch a little blue line slowly grow all day and use Tumblrette on my phone.
Well, it could be worse :)

Garrett Ross:
A couple of years ago I was faced with the agonizing decision of which dSLR to buy. So for many of you in that position… I sympathize while at the same time feel very excited for you and the journey that you are about to begin. Either way you go, you will be happy. With a couple of recent questions asked to me about what I would recommend, below is my rationale for the decision I...

The inaugural meeting was a great success. We had an iPhone heavy contingent. Four iPhone devs, two recent Cocoa converts, and me.
Jeff Rock developed Tumblrette, the app I’m using to write this.
John Maddox developed Summizer and Streaks.
Eddie Wilson developed Snow Reports and Streaks.
Mike Schrag does secret things with WebObjects, and developed Color.
Jon Lumpkin...
Thanks Tumblrette

Just want to throw out a thanks to Tumblerette for making this night of posting possible.
Let’s be real Tumble wouldn’t cut it.

Last night was the 2nd installment of the Richmond Tumblr Meetup. Marc was there who does technical support for tumblr. He talked about all the emails he has to respond to, so I would just like to take a minute to say how much I like tumblr and how much I appreciate what he does. Please reblog if you feel the same.
Emily
I’ll second that! Great job Marc!
The economy might be imploding, but Tumblr is RICH!
