Shipped a product
So we formed a company, opened the bank accounts and decided on our first product, Tumblrette. Now the only thing we had to do now was make it.
Right.
This was harder than anything I’d ever tried to do. Luckily Garrett and I had experience with some semblance of project management and design mentality. I coded and learned while Garrett figured out how a software company worked and implemented it. Remarkably, neither of us collapsed from the exhaustion of a full-time job, a full-time side company and all the other stuff we both accomplished this year.
The iPhone SDK was a bear and during the main development of Tumblrette I wasn’t allowed to talk in public about iPhone development because of the (now nullified) NDA. But eventually, on September 2nd, Tumblrette was accepted into the App Store. To say that we felt a sense of accomplishment would be an understatement. Despite the eye-rolling we got when we told some people what we were doing, there it was. An actual product.
Tumblrette’s story continues in 2009, and I can’t wait to tell you what we have in store.
